the death of the single person

It was when the words rolled off your fingers

Seating a new position for my spine

I realized I had to dig out of the graves

Of lilacs, succulents, greenery and sweet things

Get my hands dirty to get past you and me

My green eyes grew brighter, more highlighted

Because of the death of the single person

And the birth of the single woman
